We were the prime contractor for an award-winning project adding 4.5 megawatts of cogen capacity to the existing cogen system using a design-build agreement and fast-track schedule.
The expansion was based on the installation of a Solar Turbine 5-MW Taurus 60. The unit’s integrated HRSG uses a gas-fired duct burner to yield up to 58,000 lbs/hr of steam which is distributed to domestic hot water, comfort heating and two (2) 1,250-ton steam absorption chillers. The project also included installation of an integrated central chiller.
In addition to a fast-track schedule, this project was in a lower level space making it logistically challenging. Our expertise in rigging and MEP coordination was essential to keeping the fast-track schedule dates. Our scope also included a centralized supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.
